Obituary of JANUSZ ANTONI PAGOWSKI

JANUSZ ANTONI PAGOWSKI

July 20th 1953 - April 4th 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, Tata and Dziadzia, Janusz Antoni Pagowski.

Janusz is predeceased by his parents Maksymilian and Maria Pagowski and in-laws Klemens and Wanda Marcynski.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Elzbieta Pagowski, daughters Justyna (Kevin) Frobisher, Caroline (Shane) Harold, and Julie (Ryan) Klos and his six grandchildren Emilee, Brea, Olivia, Annika, Logan and Stella.

Janusz was born in Gdansk Poland. He immigrated to Canada in 1982. Putting his fears aside, he left everything he knew in Poland with pennies in his pockets and moved across the world to build a new life for his family. His home is made of all things he created, installed and fixed, including electronics, plumbing, carpentry, cabinetry and cars. He was an incredibly intelligent man who always had a book in his hand, reading everything from technical electronic books to historical war novels to classic love stories.

He helped his children with stranded teenager car breakdowns and always came with his toolbox to their houses minutes after something broke down. His help extended into the community, helping others with their fix-it projects.  His love for mechanical engineering led him to work as a prosthetic orthotic technician at the Health Sciences Centre for most of his career.

Weekends he could be seen fishing quietly and patiently on a lake or playing cards with his best friends Danka and Bogdan. Summers were spent on annual road trips, more often to British Columbia where he could be with the mountains and visit his brother Mariusz (Wioletta) and sister Ania. He was an exceptional dancer and had a love for polish cultural music particularly the “Czerwone Gitary”.

Janusz took great pride in growing and maintaining his beautiful garden and loved picking mushrooms in the forest to make our delicious perogies at Christmas dinner. His palate was elite, and he would often be called upon to turn a regular recipe into a gourmet masterpiece. He was known to have a sweet tooth and always had hard candies in his pockets which he often saved for his grandchildren.

Dziadzia, thank you for the life you provided, the sacrifices you made, the guidance, the support and most of all, the abundance of love that you never ever stopped giving. We love you and miss you dearly.

Our family would like to extend our sincerest thanks and gratitude to the palliative care team for all the wonderful care and support you provided for Janusz.
