So sorry for the passing of this incredible lady! Our aunt Nina Rekrut informed my sister of her passing a few weeks ago.
My mother is Anna Wasilewski (nee Rekrut).
I only briefly met the Fijal side in Toronto in the early eighties. My uncle Frank Rekrut took my mom Anna Wasilewski and I to meet them the summer I was in dance school in TO.
I remember Auntie Julia as being a very well-put together lady, very polished and impressive. There was another aunt there as well who worked as a manager at one of the major Food Companies in TO.
They impressed me both as self made, strong independent minded women who could tackle anything life threw at them. Great role models for a young woman like me. They also talked alot about their grandfather Uncle Micheal who was apparently very respected in the military in the old country.
So sad to have lost touch with them and to have only known again of Aunt Julia at her passing. She was a very fine lady, and will be missed.
