Obituary of GERMAINE BASS
Germaine Bass (née Germaine Brodeur)
On Tuesday January 6th 2026 Germaine Bass passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Luther Home at the age of 96.
Germaine was predeceased by and leaves us to join her parents, Florence (Lemoine) and Henry Brodeur; beloved siblings: Aurele (Marlean), Anne-Marie (Tom Zatylny), Jean ( Teresa), Charles (Claire) and Rachel (Gordon Ross). Germaine is survived by her husband, Andrew and only child, Richard (Sherree) Bass of Winnipeg and also many nieces and nephews.
Born in Detroit Michigan on December 9, 1929 she resided there until the age of 4, when her family returned to St. Adolphe, Manitoba to launch the family run entrepreneurship, Brodeur Freres Ltd.
Germaine had a strong love for God and attended St. Josephs Roman Catholic church regularly. Jeremiah : 7-8 NIV “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who confides in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, it’s leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
Germaine was an avid swimmer, volunteering as a swim instructor for over 20 years at the Winnipeg North YMCA. Besides being a busy home maker, she also found the time to be an Avon representative. Germaine also had a strong love for cats with her favourite companion being Katie.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at the Luther Home for their exceptional work and outstanding care for Germaine.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice and honour Germaine with a toast.
