Obituary of MARIA SUSHKO

Maria Sushko

September 13, 1946 – February 8, 2026

Maria Sushko, who was dearly loved and will be forever remembered, passed away at the age of 79 with her son by her side on February 8, 2026, at St. Boniface Hospital.

Maria lived in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, and Wałbrzych, Poland, before immigrating with her family to Winnipeg, Canada.

She is survived by her son Daniel and her former husband Adolph, as well as extended family in Canada, the U.S.A., Poland, and Ukraine. She is predeceased by her mother Maria, brothers Peter and John, and sisters Olga and Genia.

Challenging at times because she knew what she wanted and wouldn’t settle for less, she nonetheless was always there for whoever needed someone in their worst of times, often described as having a heart of gold by those who met her.

Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Parish, 342 Pritchard Avenue. Viewing will take place at the church at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
