MICHAEL MATTHEW FITZGERALD

Michael Matthew Fitzgerald, born on September 2, 1962 in Solingen, Germany passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 in Winnipeg, MB after a courageous battle with illness. He was 63 years old.

Beloved son of the late Michael Matthew and the late Frances (Doten) Fitzgerald of Quispamsis, NB.

Mike was the youngest of four siblings. Maryam Doucette (Carl) of Calgary, AB, Kimberly Wilcox (Marty) of St. Albert, Edmonton and Frederick Fitzgerald (Joan) of Wpg, MB.

He is survived by his wife, Sherill and daughters Hailey Madeson,  Taylor and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mike was known for his unwavering dedication to his family. He was kind, generous and compassionate. His presence was felt by his energetic laughter. Mike’s passing left a void in the lives of his family, friends and to so many who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived true to his values and was most proud of being a father and a husband.

In 1981, he moved to Winnipeg right after high school and started his career in the petroleum industry that spanned over 4 decades. His strong work ethics was known to his peers. 

Outside of work, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, golfing on weekends, and took leisure drives in his corvette. Mike showed his remarkable workmanship doing home improvements and made time to play his guitar.

We ask you remember him for the way he lived - bold and without fear.

Cremation has taken place and no formal memorial service to follow. A Celebration of his Life will be held this summer.
