Obituary of LORETTA ANN NAFTEN
It is with an appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our Mom and Granny, Loretta Naften at the age of 95. She was our family’s last connection to that generation and is now reunited with our dad, Alex and all of her family and friends who have gone before her.
She leaves behind to treasure her memory; Her daughters Lori (Dennis), Wendy (Bob), grandchildren, Jared (Ashley), Breanne (Brett), Dale (Kaylin) and Paul. She also leaves behind her precious great grandchildren, Kiana, Dallas, Paisley and Chloe.
Loretta cherished the simple things in life. She loved her family unconditionally. A visit from the “littles” instantly brightened her day. She took great delight in watching them grow and change. Loretta was the definition of kindness. She treated everyone with respect and compassion. She was the heartbeat of our family. Her joy was found when we gathered as a family. She was the architect of many family traditions from Easter egg hunts to the endless wrapping of gifts to fill the Christmas stockings. The arrival of summer signaled time at the lake. It truly was her happy place. Sitting on the deck, sipping a glass of wine, surveying her kingdom and looking at the lake glistening was considered a perfect day. The cottage held four generations all at the same time. The memories created from sixty years at the lake are endless and forever tucked into our hearts. Loretta’s humour and wit was woven into our life experiences. Laughter was common place and often made a bad situation bearable. We have been blessed to have had this wonderful woman as our role model for so many years.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to her homecare providers, Felicia, Mary, Marlene and Ella. Their kindness allowed her to remain in the home she loved until the end.
According to Loretta’s wishes a private family service will take place under the warmth of the summer sun.
