MARLENE VALERIE WACHNIAK
November 20, 1952 – March 27, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marlene on Friday, March 27, 2026.
Marlene leaves behind sister Donna Kirdei and brother John Wachniak, sister-in law Judy (Michael), nieces Amanda (Dave), Alyssa (Adam), Kristen; nephews Christopher, Derek, Kurtis (Katie); great nieces Paige and Emma; great nephews Wyatt, Brody and Julian and many extended family members.
Marlene was predeceased by her parent’s Vera and William Wachniak, brother Lawrence Wachniak, brother-in-law Vic Kirdei, Chocha Hanya Wachniak and both sets of grandparents.
Marlene attended Faraday Elementary, Isaac Newton Junior High and St John’s High Schools and continued her education at Success College.
She was employed at Marshall Wells, Canadian Indemnity and Manitoba Health Services.
Marlene enjoyed travelling, reading, knitting, hook rug and going to the beach with family and friends.
Thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Holy Family Home for all the compassionate care and support given to Marlene for almost five years. You made her feel welcomed and loved.
Thank you to the doctors and nurses of St Boniface Hospital for the compassionate care that was given to Marlene in her final two days of life.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Marlene to Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2W 1T9 or a charity of your choice.
