Obituary of Ross KARBONIK SR.
ROSS FRANK KARBONIK SR.
Ross Frank Karbonik, aged 72 years, beloved husband of Diane, wife of 49 years, passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital on Thursday, April 30, 2009 with his family by his side.
Ross will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his son Michael (Maureen); daughter Dorian Audette (Stan); son Ross (Kathy) and nine grandchildren David, Kevin, twins Chloe and Carlye, Arden, April, Aaron, Kayla and Hailey.
Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg and worked for the Manitoba Telephone System for 36 years in the Engineering and Drafting division. He volunteered his time with the local hockey association (CPAC). He kept himself busy after retirement tinkering with many on-going projects and assisting the children with their activities. We all benefited from Dad's knowledge and craftsmanship.
The family spent many a-summer in Lac Du Bonnet, where the family enjoyed the beautiful summers on the lake. Like any true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and regularly pulled around the unwilling boys in his adventures. Ross had a great love of animals and donated regularly to the Humane Society.
Ross's greatest pleasure was to be surrounded by his family and was especially proud of all his grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Ross could find humour in any situation no matter how grave, and somehow it always seemed appropriate.
Special thanks to the staff at both St. Boniface and Seven Oaks Hospitals for providing exceptional care to our father. Your passion and commitment in assisting our family is greatly appreciated. The family would also like to thank Dr. Fred Olynyk for your excellent care, friendship and dedication to Dad.
The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. A private family burial will take place in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3.
