Ludwig KUFLOWSKI

Obituary of Ludwig KUFLOWSKI

LUDWIG (LOU, LOUIE) KUFLOWSKI On April 24th, 2009 at Health Sciences Centre, Lou passed away peacefully after a short illness at the age of 90 years old. He will be remembered fondly by his wife, Ann; his brother Eddie; his grandchildren Melanie Zarrillo (Cameron) and Dean Zarrillo; as well as, many extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Magdalena & Nicholas Kuflowski; his "pride and joy," daughter, Lois Karen; & many siblings and their spouses. Lou grew up in Brandon, Manitoba and relocated to Winnipeg in the 1940s. It is here that he met his wife, Ann, and they married on August 9th, 1947. He worked for CNR as a Baggage Master for approximately 35 years and proudly took on the role of Union Chairman until his retirement at the age of 65. While on the track, Lou would often send his daughter and wife postcards to tell them of his travels and that his thoughts were with them. Thoughtful gifts for them would often accompany him upon his return. Lou was a meticulous man and a collector of everything-just in case it was needed! Photos from years ago have captured him as an impeccable dresser, looking like somewhat of a movie star walking downtown hand-in-hand with his young daughter. Lou will be remembered as a thoughtful and kind man-known to be willing to give you the shirt off his back! He had enjoyed engaging in debates about politics, watching hockey, & planting a large vegetable garden every spring. The family would like to thank Dr. Bellas, Norma RN, and the staff of GA4 at HSC for their care of and concern towards Lou during his last hours. Memorial services (viewing and gathering) will take place at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11:00 am. Cremation will follow. Rest in peace to our husband, brother, uncle and Grandpa.
