Linda Smith Obituary LINDA SMITH (nee Nobiss), Our beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away with family by her side on January 2nd, 2022 at Grace Hospital. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her sons Donald (Tracey), Jamie (Crystal) and daughter Corralie (Jody); along with grandchildren Kayla (Matt), Maya (Thomas), Emma, Owen (Hayley), Jessica and Erika. She will also be deeply missed by her brothers Dennis (Phyllis), Lionel (Linda), John, Terry (Donna) and sisters Janet, Joan, Lillian and Barbara (Al) as well as many friends and other family members. She was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth & Thomas, her husband Peter, her brother Leonard, and her sister Geraldine, as well as her brother in-laws Clifford, Jim and Bruce. Linda was born in Stonewall, MB on July 7, 1951. Linda moved with her family to Winnipeg as a child. She left school and started working as a teenager to make ends meet. As an adult, Linda went back to school to obtain her Grade 12 Equivalency Diploma and went on to graduate from the Red River College Community Development program in 1996. Upon completion of her diploma, Linda dedicated her passion and knowledge to helping Adult Indigenous learners improve their lives and opportunities as an Adult Literacy Instructor with the Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource and Development Learning and Literacy Centre. A proud moment for Linda was in 2013 when she was nominated for the prestigious Province of Manitoba’s Lieutenant Governor Generals Award for her commitment and work within the provinces Literacy sector. Linda loved spending time with her brothers and sisters, and always made an effort to stay up to date with their lives and current events. Linda loved discussing crafts, attending antique sales with her family and hosting pot-lucks with her grandbabies. Enjoying sunny days out at the cabin with family always held a special place in Linda’s heart. Later on in Linda’s life she developed a special talent and love for sewing, which she shared with many friends and family members in the way of blankets, table runners, bowl holders, bags and many other items that became precious keepsakes to us all. Linda enjoyed traveling to British Columbia to visit with her family out west. She would often speak of her love of the mountains and would jump at any opportunity to travel that way. Linda was a proud Metis woman. She was courageous in life and was always ready to provide direction and share her thoughts and opinions with family. Linda was a pillar of strength for her family, and gave all of herself to ensure that others were safe and healthy. Linda fought a hard battle for the past 8 months, never wanting to cause anyone worry or concern. She was tough, and carried this innate strength with her throughout her life and within the many roles she assumed. We are at peace knowing she is no longer suffering, and is now safe in the arms of the love of her life, Peter. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for her at Cancer Care and the Grace Hospital. Funeral Service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, located at 1442 Main Street on Monday, January 10th, 2022 at 10:00 am. . Proof of full vaccination will be required A live stream option will also be available at www.cropo.com. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.

My Tribute Gift Foundation makes this online charitable giving portal web page MyTributeGift.org (the “Website”) available to you subject to your acceptance of and compliance with these terms of use (the “Terms of Use”). Your donation will be processed through My Tribute Gift Foundation for distribution to your selected charity. Your credit card transaction record will appear as My Tribute Gift Foundation. An official tax receipt for your donation will be issued by My Tribute Gift Foundation. Donations are sent out to charities at the end of each month for all donations received in that previous month. So a donation made on the first day of the month would be sent at the same time as one made on last day. Payments would be sent either by paper check or direct deposit. Please note that the there is 3% + 35¢/transaction fee for credit card processing, My Tribute Gift Foundation collects a 5% administrative fee. These fees help fund the cost of processing all donations, issuing tax receipts, and sending all appropriate information to the selected charity. These fees are assumed by your selected charity, but you will receive a receipt for the full amount of your donation. There are NO additional costs the charity has to endure to participate and accept donations through MyTributeGift.org. According to the American Institute for Philanthropy (charitywatch.org) a charitable organization is considered “Good” if they are spending less than 30% on administration and fundraising costs. My Tribute Gift Foundation helps reduce those administrative costs for charities and allows donors to contribute to lasting memorials for their loved ones.
When donating online, if the donation form has an option to add a tip, there is no convenience fee. The tip is optional and can be adjusted before you submit your donation. The amount of the tip will be displayed to you before you confirm the charge to your payment card. Tips are in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount that goes to the charitable organization. Under IRS and CRA rules, tips are not tax deductible to the donor.
You warrant and represent that all information and materials you provide to My Tribute Gift Foundation, through the Website or otherwise, are accurate and truthful and do not violate third party rights. Indemnity. YOU AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE FOUNDATION PARTIES FROM AND AGAINST ANY AND ALL CLAIMS, DEMANDS, ACTIONS, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS BROUGHT BY YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY (COLLECTIVELY "CLAIMS") ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THIS SITE IN BREACH OF THESE TERMS OF USE OR THE INFRINGEMENT BY YOU OF ANY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS OF ANY PERSON OR ENTITY, INCLUDING ALL LOSSES, LIABILITIES, DAMAGES, COSTS AND EXPENSES (INCLUDING ALL LEGAL FEES) ARISING FROM SUCH CLAIMS.
If in any part of these Terms of Use is held, by a court of competent jurisdiction, to be invalid or unenforceable, such part of these Terms of Use shall be eliminated to the extent permitted in that jurisdiction, for purposes of that jurisdiction, and the remaining Terms of Use shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms of Use and your use of the Website are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and all federal laws of Canada applicable therein. The courts of the Province of Ontario shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms of Use or your use of the Website.
These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and My Tribute Gift Foundation with respect to the Website, except as we may explicitly agree otherwise in writing.. No delay or failure to exercise any right with respect to these Terms of Use shall be construed as a waiver by My Tribute Gift Foundation.
As a donor, you are responsible for researching the charity, understanding how your money will be used, and understanding the tax implications of your donation. We will email you a receipt, but the deductibility of your donation depends on your individual tax situation. We are not financial, tax, or legal experts. Please do not rely on our information to make decisions about your finances, taxes or legal matters. Consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Participating organizations have chosen to actively participate in the “Sponsor Program” to be represented in the Sponsor Charity array in an effort to increase their exposure and the opportunity for more memorial donations to be made to their organization. A rate structure is agreed upon and assessed on each donation processed through that program according to each organization’s individual agreement. Giving through that program has helped many organizations realize a drastic and significant increase in net donations.
If a donation form has a line item of Convenience Fee. The Convenience fee is displayed to you prior to approving the charge to your payment card. The convenience fee is in addition to the donation amount, so they do not affect the amount reaching the charitable organization. For example, a $100 donation becomes a $101.50 transaction. The convenience fee is directed immediately to a for-profit service provider. According to IRS and CRA rules the tax deductible receipt will therefore only be issued for the subtotal amount.
My Tribute Gift Foundation seeks to distribute all funds to organizations provided they have maintained active 501c3 certification in the United States or registered charity status in Canada. MTG relies on the beneficiary organizations to maintain and keep up to date contact information on file with the IRS or CRA respectively. This must be done in order for My Tribute Gift Foundation to exercise care and reasonable efforts to distribute payment promptly, without undue cost and burden to the foundation. In the event that a payment has not been deposited 12 months from issuance, the foundation reserves the right to utilize those funds in its mission to the foundation.
My Tribute Gift Foundation reserves the right to modify, change, discontinue and suspend these Terms of Use, the Website, and/or any services offered through the Website, in whole or in part, at any time, without prior notice to you. Your continued access or use of the Website after modifications to these Terms of Use have been posted on the Website shall indicate your acceptance of and agreement to be bound by these Terms of Use as modified. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use regularly.
