MARIA ASSUNCAO SOARES
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria Assuncao Soares on October 5, 2011, with her family by her side, at the age of 93. She is predeceased by her husband Manuel Pacheco Soares and son Humberto.
Left to mourn in her passing are her children, Nelia (Joao), Daniel (Margarida), Humberto’s widow Fatima, Elisa (Antonio), Margarida (Jose), Eduardo (Ines), Odete (Manuel), 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Maria was born in Santa Maria, Portugal on October 17, 1917 and later moved with her family to Canada. She will always have a special place in our hearts; her strength, fire and courage will be remembered by all who knew her. There are many great memories the family will cherish and keep in their hearts forever. We celebrate her life, mourn her death, and remain grateful for her role in our lives.
The family would like to thank Home Care for their many years of dedication and support.
Prayers will take place on Friday, October 7 at 6:00 pm. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, October 8 at 9:00 am. Both services will be located at the Immaculate Conception Parish located at 181 Austin St. North. Interment will follow at the Assumption Cemetery.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Society of Manitoba in Maria’s name.
