MARIA DE LUZ TAVARES
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister on May 15,2013 at Seven Oaks Hospital.
Maria De Luz was predeceased by her loving husband Manuel Grilo Tavares, infant son Pedro, parents Jose and Conceicao Soares, brother Carlos and sister Lidia.
Left to mourn moms passing are children; Natalia (Imre), Jose Carlos (Rosa), Louis (Terrie), Maria Helen (Gilberto), John Daniel (Andrea), Tony, Ernest and Patricia (Dwayne);
14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister Libelia and brother Jose (Leonide) of Toronto; many nieces and nephews.
Mom was born in Faja de Cemia san Miguel, Azores, Portugal on September 8, 1929, where mom met dad and together raised 7 of their 8 children with the last child being born in Winnipeg. Dad came to Winnipeg in 1964 with Mom and us following in 1970. Mom worked cleaning for 27 years at the Free Press (CKRC), where she made many friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. with viewing prior to service starting at 9:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Our mother will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Mom you were such a loving mother and grandmother your passing has left a deep imprint in our hearts that will never be filled again.
Rest in peace mom,

we love you.
