Obituary of FREDERICK MILLER

FREDERICK JOHN MILLER Peacefully on May 31, 2013 at St. Boniface Hospital in the arms of his family, Fred left us after a strongly fought battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 45 years Judy, son Jason (Diane), daughters Kirsten (Kelly) and Susan (Sean), his beloved grandsons Carter, Kane and Luke. Also survived by his in-laws Steve, Liz, Marion, and Bill and long time Friends Brian, Doug, Mike, and Ken. He was predeceased by his father John in 1968, his mother, Julia in 2001, and sister Joyce in 2010. Fred was born in St. Boniface and grew up in East St. Paul playing hockey with the Winnipeg Flyers then later the East St. Paul Old Saints and football for the Weston Wildcats. He took over his fathers Shell agency in 1968 and spent the next 33 years on Henderson Hwy where friends and customers often gathered to discuss sports and life in East St. Paul. He served his community as a hockey coach, a volunteer fire fighter a member of the fire and police commission, Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and nurses of the palliative care program especially nurse Anne as well as Len and Fran for their spiritual help. A memorial service will be held on Fri. June 7 at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christie Church, 5819 Henderson Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba or to the Corpus Christie Building Fund.
