Obituary of WILLIAM KANCERUK
WILLIAM KANCERUK
July 14, 1923 – June 23, 2013
Peacefully at the Lion’s Manor, we say goodbye to our beloved father William (Bill).
Remaining, to forever cherish our father’s memory in our heart’s are his son Robert, his daughter Carolle (Paul Stiller) and grandchildren Sarah, Brett and Shane, our cousins Ron and Vivian Pinkowski and our aunt Victoria Quinn.
Our earliest fond memories of our father are photographs of him with our mother Pauline as teenagers. They would eventually marry in 1946. Our father spent his working years in aviation, first with Transair, then Pacific Western. When Pacific Western moved its operation to Calgary, our father elected early retirement with the hope of doing some travelling with our mother. Sadly our mother left us early in her life in 1983.
Our father continued to live in Garden City, devoting his life to his family and neighborhood friends as well as his dogs, Frosty and Brandy. He became the neighborhood handy-man and enjoyed hobbies such as gardening, woodwork and making metal sculptures.
He remains in our memories and our hearts. We know he has gone to a better place in the heaven above to meet again with our mother so they can continue their travels together and forever. We will miss you both greatly.
We extend our sincerest thanks to the staff at the Lion’s Manor for their care of our father during his stay there.
In compliance with our father’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral. Only the immediate family will hold a private service. Flower’s gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Wpg. Humane Society or to a Pet Related Charity.
