MARIA LAURA SILVA
September 8, 1935 – August 20, 2013
Peacefully on August 20, 2013, Maria Laura Silva passed away with her family by her side.
Maria was predeceased by her husband Manuel Machado da Silva, parents José De Sousa Cipriano and Maria da Luz Martins, and brother-in-law Artur Tavares.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Susanne, son-in-law Michael, grandsons Nicholas and Zachary, sister Maria Gilda, brother João da Ponte Sousa (Aldora), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maria was born on September 8, 1935 in Arrifes, São Miguel, Açores. She immigrated to Canada in 1971 and settled in Dryden, Ontario where she worked alongside her husband until his death. In 1990 she moved to Winnipeg. She loved to crochet and garden. You left us too soon and you will always be in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at HSC MICU for their support and care.
Prayers will be said on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 8:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St North. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 10:00 am also at the church. Interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Maria’s honour to the Arthritis Society of Canada.
