Obituary of PATRICIA LOUISA DAY-LYON
PATRICIA LOUISA DAY-LYON
(NEE VICKERS)
March 9, 1926 – September 5, 2013
She passed away with her daughter at her side at Deer Lodge Centre. Our sadness at her passing is comforted by the knowledge that she is now with God and her mother Kathleen, her father Charles, sisters Molly and Christine, brother Bernard and her beloved husband Les.
Pat is survived by her daughter Carla (Don) Jennings, grandchildren Michael Steele, Kathryn MacRae; her son Gerry (Jeanne) Day, grandchildren Justin Day, Martin Day; great grandchildren Michael’s daughters Dannika and Delanie, Kathryn’s son Brody, Martin’s girls Vanessa and Jessica, Justin’s boys Nathan and Evan; sisters Josie Gatien ( Hector deceased), Frances (Jim) McGinn, Margaret Beneteau ( Ken deceased); brother Bill (Mary)Vickers and brother Joe Downing (Velma) and brother-in-law Roman (Christine). She was much loved by the numerous nieces and nephews in the family.
Pat was born in Winnipeg to a large family and went to work at the CPR at 18. She met and married her first husband and was then to travel through Canada and some of Europe as he was in the military.
She met her soul mate Lesley at a Club 66 function in 1973 and they shared 32 years together before he passed away in 2005.
Pat had many hobbies that included over the years curling, square dancing, bridge, knitting (curling sweaters were her specialty), golf and of course fishing in Port Hardy with Les’ family.
She loved to travel and trips to Reno with Les were frequent as well as a few trips to the Maritimes. She went on her first cruise to Alaska in 2001 and she was hooked. She completed over 20 cruises in the next 12 years. Her generosity was unbounded as she was able to treat her brothers sisters, children and grandchildren to join her on a couple of these trips.
The most important part of her life was family and she would do all she could to have get togethers whether in the park at a picnic or a full dinner she prepared at home.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff at 3E and 4E Deer Lodge Hospital for their care.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
