Obituary of MARY TESARSKI
MARY TESARSKI
(born Oleksiw)
1924-2013
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Tesarski announces her peaceful passing on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at her home at the age of 89 years.
Baba was blessed with three children, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. They were the pride and joy of her life and she loved them all dearly. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her son Phil (Anne), daughter Valerie (Rolf), grandchildren, Christopher, Sean, Kayla, Michael, Monica, Nancy, Steve, Eric and Lydia and great-grandchildren, Owen, Nash, Aiden and Ava as well as her sister, Stella, brother Eddie (Judy) and numerous nephews, nieces and wonderful friends.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter (2008), infant son Leonard, father and mother, Peter and Sophie, brothers, Mike (Marie), Nick (Jean), Paul (Betty), David, and her brother-in-law and card partner Bill Pemkowski as well as the Tesarski brothers and sister, John, Martin, Steve, Helen, and Frank.
Mom was born in Polson, MB and lived on the family farm until she moved to Winnipeg and started her career at Burns. She had many interests, but her passion was entertaining, sports and card playing. Her love and compassion of people were her legacies. She always thought of others and their needs. Everyone was always welcome at her home for a cup of coffee and a muffin or if they could not come, she went to their homes bringing treats.
Mom had an endless amount of love and energy for friends and children. In her younger days, she would be on the first bus in the morning heading to work, come home at the end of a long day to make supper, and then go out and play baseball with the children on the street. As years went on, although mom lost some of her energy, she was involved but only as an observer except when it came to card playing at her residence. There she managed to still win her fair share of the pots.
Mom was a devout member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church. Mom’s proudest time (next to her family) was when she held the position of Vice-President at the St Nicholas Senior’s Group. She loved planning events, outings and making sure that everyone had fun.
Mom is now with dad beating him at cards. Before she left us, she completed her Christmas shopping, wrapped all the gifts and most likely thought, time to move onto another party.
Our family wishes to thank everyone who called and visited with mom. Your presence always made her happy. She loved every one of you.
Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 1442 Main Street. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, September 26 at St Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in mom’s memory to St Nicholas Church Improvement Fund or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
