Obituary of PHILIP (PHIL) ROBERT ZUBRYCKI
PHILIP (PHIL) ROBERT ZUBRYCKI
Philip (Phil) Robert Zubrycki was born December 18, 1941 and died on October 2, 2013. He was predeceased by his father Phil, mother Stella (nee Lesiuk) and brother Richard.
Surviving are his sister-in-law Shirley, his niece Kathy Hutton, his nephews Rick and
Bob Zubrycki, close friend Brian Segal, several cousins and many friends and relatives.
Phil went to school at King Edward, Lord Selkirk, Elmwood High School, Red River
Community College and the University of Manitoba.
He was a former Royal Winnipeg Rifles (M) NCO, Platoon Sergeant, awarded CD., a
M.T.S. telephone installer, repairman and PBX installer and a schoolteacher (Industrial Arts) at Sargent Park, Aberdeen Niji Makwa and Elmwood High School.
Phil was initiated, passed and raised by Empire Lodge No. 127, G.R.M., A.F. & A.M. in 1987. He served as Worshipful Master of his lodge in 1996 and served as Lodge
Secretary from 1989 to 1992 and again from 1999 to 2011. He became a member of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba Board of General Purposes when appointed in 2002-2003 and re-elected 2003-2016. He was Chairman and Vice-Chairman and a member of several of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba Committees. Phil was the recipient of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba "Grand Master's Meritorious Service Award" in 2004 and the "Grand Master's Award for Merit" in 2010. He was a J.R.C. Evans Memorial Lecturer 2005-2006 and was elected District Deputy Grand Master Unity Masonic District 2012-2013. Latterly Phil was a Grand Lodge Masonic Resource Center volunteer and a member or past member of the Khartum Shriners, Scottish Rite, Royal Arch Masonry, Preceptory, Cryptic Rite, Centrum College and the Widows Sons Masonic Motorcycle Riders Association.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m. in Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street with interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
