Obituary of STANLEY M. SKUZANSKI
STANLEY M. SKUZANSKI
August 19, 1931 – October 08, 2013
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our much loved Husband, Father, and Dzradzo, on October 08, 2013 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 82 years.
Left to celebrate his memory are his beloved wife Irene of 57 years, his children, son Terry (Suzanne) Stirling and his sons Jordan, Jeremy, Alex and Daniel, daughter Sheri Nicastro and her sons, Peter and Stan Anthony, daughter Whitney (Roger) Giacomin and her daughter Taylor and son Nicholas, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Stan entered the world on August 19, 1931 to Frank and Teenie Skuzanski. Having completed his formal education at Isaac Newton High School, he was accepted to the R.C.M.P. Academy in Regina in September 1949. For the next five years he was stationed in various cities and towns in Alberta. In 1954 he resigned and returned to Winnipeg.
Stan joined the City of Winnipeg Police Force in November 1954. He worked his way up to become Sargeant 1 #319 before retiring in June of 1991 after 37 years of dedicated service.
Stan was a talented handyman and did all the fixing and remodeling around the house and cottage. He also enjoyed a good game of crib and was often challenged by his crib friends at the Cathedral Senior Club.
Dad encouraged education in his children, supported them in their extra-curricular activities. He treasured his summers with his family at the cottage at Star Lake. Dad was selfless and generous and had a heart of gold and a soul of tenderness.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest Gregory Mielnik officiating.
As an expression of sympathy, a donation in Stan’s memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St. Winnipeg.
