HAROLD RIVERS de JERSEY
After a brief illness Harold Rivers de Jersey passed away at home on October 11, 2013.
Harold was predeceased by his brother Maurice (Beryl). His wife Doris passed away on February 23, 2004.
Dad is survived by his two sons David James and Donald Wayne; three grandchildren Brad, Colin and Paul; two brothers John and Walter (Beryl). He was loved and will be missed by his nieces and nephews.
Harold was born in Minnedosa Hospital on May 20, 1925. He spent his early years in the Onanole-Whirlpool district and joined the R.C.N.V.R. toward the end of WWII. At the end of the war he was discharged as Signalman, T. O.
Harold received his post-secondary education at United College and the University of Manitoba. After teaching at Whirlpool and Russell, MB he met Doris and was married at Flin Flon in June 1954.
Harold continued teaching English and Math in West Kildonan and Winnipeg. He retired in 1987 as Math. Dept. Head at Churchill High in Winnipeg. He enjoyed teaching, curling, golfing and bridge.
Harold worked with his students in Russell, the West Kildonan Teachers and the Winnipeg teachers. He spent many enjoyable years golfing and playing bridge with his good friends, Annie, Jack, Don and David.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Anglican Church on Burrin Ave. and Aikens St. with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, you may wish to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
