Obituary of BASYL PHILLIP HOLLAND
BASYL PHILLIP HOLLAND
1928-2013
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Basyl Phillip Holland on October 25, 2013 following a valiant three year struggle with cancer.
Basyl was born October 14, 1928 in Grand Lake, Nova Scotia eldest of seven children. He was predeceased by his first wife Eileen Holland, parents Myrtle and Russell Holland, brothers Maurice, Calvin and sisters Sandra, Beulah and Joan.
Left to mourn his passing are; wife Anne Forman, sons Mike (Judy), Paul (Linda) daughters Pat Stephenson (Tim) and Colleen Morton (Brian) and his eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Basyl started his career as a reservist 1948 and then became a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (Military Police) for twenty nine years including serving his country in the Korean war in 1950 and as a peace keeper with NATO in Cyprus in 1970. On retiring from the Armed Forces he took up his carpentry talent and started H&S construction. He had many interests including gardening, love of animals and an avid reader especially science related information.
He was a true family man and loved his family unconditionally. He will also be sadly missed by his two dogs Ralph and Molly. The neighborhood will miss their dog walker.
Thank you for all the care and compassion given to Basyl and the family by Dr Harris and CancerCare and the Cancer Oncology Clinic at Concordia Hospital. As well our gratitude to the wonderful people at the Palliative Care Home program and the staff at the Palliative Unit at Riverview.
