Obituary of JOHN (JAN) MACKOW
JOHN (JAN) MACKOW
It is with great sadness and loving memories that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle. John passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2013. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Krystyna Mackow. He is survived and will greatly be missed by his children Bob (Debbie) Mackow, Karen (Dan) Derkacz, Elizabeth (Michael) Boroditsky, and Mariane (Sean) McKiernan. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren Katlyn, Emma, Madeline, Jordan, Sydney, Finn and Reese. He is also survived by his sister Sophie Semkowski along numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
John Mackow was born in Koropiec, Poland on December 28, 1941. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1961 at the age of 20 where he found and married his beloved wife Krystyna. John worked as a machinist and it wasn’t until 1983 where he founded Mackow Custom Machine, now known as Mackow Industries. John’s success was joined by his four children who brought him great pride. As the business grew successful it allowed him the freedom to enjoy life.
John spent the last 20 years vacationing in Puerto Vallarta and fell in love with the warm air and the friends he made. In 2009, he fulfilled his dream to spend 6 month every year in his beachfront condo in Puerto Vallarta. His life was filled with family and friends. He opened his doors to everyone.
John loved the simple things in life. He lived his life with passion and love. He had a contagious smile that touched so many lives. His memory will always be in our hearts.
