Obituary of GERMAINE RUTA
GERMAINE RUTA
Peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, Germaine Ruta, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the Bethania Mennonite Personal Care Home at the age of 90 years.
She leaves to mourn, 2 daughters Michelle Jackson and Diane Bourbonnais; 6 sons, Sid, Chris, Marc, Daniel, Michael, Carl and their spouses; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband and all of her siblings.
Germaine was born in Shaunavon, SK on March 5, 1921 and lived on the family farm in Dollard, SK. She graduated as a registered nurse from St. Boniface Hospital and worked at numerous Winnipeg hospitals. She was active in the Catholic Women’s League for 41 years and spent many hours woodworking, furniture refinishing, doing various other crafts and activities and did her share of travelling.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Bethania for their excellent care.
Prayers and Viewing will take place on Monday, October 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 11 at 12:00 Noon at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe at Brazier St. with Br. Jorge Villegas, O.F.M.,Cap officiating. Reception will follow at St. Alphonsus Hall, 341 Munroe Ave. Interment 2:30 p.m. at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Hwy #1, East at Navin Rd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Germaine’s memory to Bethania or a charity of one’s choice.
