ROSA de JESUS ALVES
(NEE BERNARDINO)
Passed away peacefully on November 13, 2013 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 89 years.
Rosa is survived by her husband of 68 years, Antonio da Silva Alves, Jr.; her children Antonio "Tony" (Helen) Alves and Lisete (Manuel) Prazeres; grandchildren Lilia (Jan) Gartner (Germany), Lisa Alves, Ivete Prazeres, Anthony Alves and Helder (Julie) Prazeres (Portugal); great grandchildren Louise and Katrin Gartner (Germany), Nathaniel, Maya and Taliya Prazeres (Portugal); nephews Jose Manuel "Joe" (Dulce) Bernardino (Ontario), Joao "John" (Jane) Bernardino (Ontario) and Jose Manuel (Zeca) Alves (Portugal).
She was predeceased by her parents Alvaro and Auta Bernardino; sister Maria; brother Jose and sister-in-law Judite.
Rosa was born on January 15, 1924 in Ericeira, Portugal. She moved with her husband and children to Winnipeg in 1959. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital and Fred Douglas Lodge for their care and compassion.
Prayers will be said on Tuesday, November 19 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Interment to follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue West.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rosa’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Rosa will be greatly missed and always remembered
