Obituary of Delfina AZEVEDO

DELFINA CANDIDA MIRANDA AZEVEDO March 11, 1927 - April 14, 2010 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother (Vav�) Delfina, on April 14, 2010, at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her husband Francisco, sister Olimpia, and brother Germano. Delfina will be tremendously missed by her daughter Filomena (Teofilo), step-children Orlandino (Maryann), Francisco (Fatima), and Heldera (Jo�o) of B.C., and her sister S�o Pedro of S�o Jorge, A�ores. Delfina will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Nancy, Ashley, Jennifer, Christina, Diana, Susanne, Frank, Denny, Margaret and Paul, her seven great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. Delfina was born on the island of S�o Jorge, A�ores, Portugal and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1971 with her husband Francisco and daughter Filomena. Delfina worked in Winnipeg's garment industry, where she made many great friends. She was a devout Roman Catholic, enjoying the many religious festivities of the Portuguese community. Since the passing of her husband 21 years ago, Delfina has lived with her daughter Filomena and her family, and prided herself on being the ultimate house maker, which she was to her dying day. She loved to dote on her grandchildren, and would do anything for them. Delfina was very close to the Barbosa family, in particular her dear friend Teresa Barbosa, and has joined in on many family gatherings over the years. Her presence will be missed. We would like to thank the staff of Grace Hospital for their care and support. Prayers will be said at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Wednesday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 4588 Roblin Blvd., on Thursday April 22, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Monsignor Maurice Comeault , P.H. as Celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Assumption Cemetery Garden Chapel Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. Dai-lhe, Senhor, o eterno descanso, entre os resplendores da luz perpetua, descansa em Paz.
