Obituary of William BARANOWSKI
WILLIAM BARANOWSKI
January 1, 1945 - January 26, 2009
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, William Baranowski, after a brief and courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme (Brain Cancer), at the age of 64 years.
William is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 42 years, Donna (nee Ploszanska); as well as, his two sons Tom and Ricky (Amanda), daughter Joanne (Frank) and 2 grandchildren, Isabella and Victor, which he loved dearly. He also is survived by his sister Lucy, his brothers Bill (Michelle and Eric), Joe (Mary, Kim, Greg, Ariana, Angelo, Chris & Lindsay) and Raymond. His father, Jan, passed away in 1977, and his mother, Miroslawa, in 2005.
William was born in Chelm Lubelski (Poland). He immigrated to Canada in 1970 with his wife and 2 children. William received "masters" in Poland for hairdressing. His first job was at Brunos and after 7 years he opened his own shop at the McIntyre Bldg with Lionel. William owned and operated Executive Hair Inc. and El Coredo downtown in the Richardson building - Lombard Place for the past 30 years. William won many competitions in Canada and in Europe. He was a very hard working person who had a passion to make people look and feel good about themselves. He even cut hair for free for the new immigrants at one time. Thank you to all of William's loyal clients for their prayers, support, caring and their business.
William was a member of SPK, Club 13, a Polish Club. William was also involved with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed many weekends fishing at Big Whiteshell Lake, spending time with his closest friends.
The family extends their deepest thanks to Dr. West, Dr. Kaufmann, Dr. Jones, Dr. Kricek, Dr. Peterson, Dr. Valev, Sylwia RN, Lori Crystal, Dave, Mike, Crystal, Barbara, Arthur and all the staff at the Rehabilitation Hospital - Unit RR6 for their care and compassion.
Prayers will be said on Thursday, January 29 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Cemetery.
