Obituary of Gordon BARRABLE
GORDON GRAEME BARRABLE
Nov. 30, 1946 - Sept. 10, 2010
The family is sad to announce that Gordon died suddenly and peacefully at home on Friday morning, Sept. 10, aged 63.
Left to mourn are Geraldine Holmes, his loving and bereaved partner of 15 years, his children Ellen and Seth Barrable of Winnipeg and Deborah Barrable and partner Claudio Cellini of Calgary, his grandchildren Brian, Samantha and Timothy Gladue, as well as Deborah and Claudio's new born twins, Isabella and Brayden. Happily, their grandfather got to meet and cuddle them on his recent Calgary visit.
Gord is also survived by his dear sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorna and Al Teague (who observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary the day Gordon died) and Joan and Jim Perfanick.
Born November 30, 1946, in Winnipeg, Gordon was pre-deceased by his parents, Isabel and Graeme Barrable (his father also died on Sept. 10), and was extremely proud of his Scottish heritage. Educated at West Kildonan Collegiate, he was employed by Griffin Canada for 33 years, and recently retired to cultivate his garden, happily getting his hands dirty alongside his dear daughter Ellen, and bringing in a bumper crop of tomatoes the day he died. Gordon enjoyed his long-time association with the Masons, serving as Past Master of Mt. Sinai Lodge and treasuring the friends and fellowship he found there.
His children have fond memories of movies and burgers with their father, and his adored grandchildren will sorely miss him.
A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg, at the corner of Luxton and Main, Elizabeth Richens officiating. Graveside service at St. John's Anglican Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Winnipeg Humane Society in honour of Gordon's deep attachment to his beloved dog, Sheba.
