Obituary of Maria Benevides
MARIA CONCEICAO BENEVIDES
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother passed away with her family by her side on Mother's Day, May 8, 2011.
Mom was born on November 27, 1918 in Sao Miguel, A�ores, Portugal. She was predeceased by her husband Mariano, her son Jose, from Rhode Island, her daughter-in-law Ilda from Sao Miguel, A�ores and her two brothers Manuel and Tome Camara from Winnipeg.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons Horocio from Sao Miguel, A�ores, Portugal, Albert (Carminda) and Carlos from Winnipeg; her daughters Ramona (Jose) and Sally (Gabe) from Winnipeg; her daughter-in-law Manuela from Rhode Island; 18 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and her sisters Lurdes (Victor), Ramona (Joao) from the US and her sister-in-law Natalia from Winnipeg, and nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by friends and family.
Mom immigrated to Canada with her husband Mariano and family in March of 1966. She worked in the garment industry for years until retirement. Mom always enjoyed having her family around her especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Beacon Hill for her care in this past year, especially Mary on the third floor.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin St. N. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12 at 9:00 a.m. also at the Church. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
