Obituary of Delfin BERENA
Delfin Caguicla Berena
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Delfin on Saturday, January 23, 2010, with his family by his side. Delfin was predeceased by his beloved daughter Maria Corazon. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Dorotea; children Nora Berena, Tessie and Cristian Laqui with children Christine and Bobby, Liza and Lito Reyes with children Debbie, Myles and Diane, Buddy and Phina with children Jenny, Jeanette and Jackielou, Ben and Guy with children Len Len, Kalvin and Sharlene, Greg and Malou with their daughter Jessica, Rey and Thelma with children Raymart and Rheanna; his sister Doray; nephews, nieces and extended family.
Defin was born in Taal, Bats, Philippines, on March 6, 1920 and immigrated to Canada on August 28, 1981. Delfin was a loving, caring, generous husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who was always thinking of others and constantly putting them first. Delfin was young at heart, always trying to make people laugh and smile with his charming personality and humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his grandchildren and playing with the family dog, Rocky. His favorite hobbies were scratching bingo tickets, watching baseball, boxing, wowowee and taking walks. He loved life and his family deeply. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
The family would like to thank Dr. McDonald and staff in the GA-5 Wing at the Health Sciences Centre for providing support, comfort and care in his last days. The family would also like to thank Dr. Ernesto and Ligaya Milambiling, his family physicians and their medical office assistant, Vicky at the Medical Arts for their practice and longtime friendship.
Viewing (Lamay) will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel Thursday, January 28, and Friday, January 29, from 6:00pm to 12:00 midnight. Funeral Mass will be held at St Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 355 Andrews Street at Mountain on Saturday, January 30, at 8:30 AM. with Father Kevin J. Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street. Reception will follow at La Merage Restaurant, 99 Isabel Street.
