Obituary of Verna MILINSKI)
VERNA BLONSKI (nee MILINSKI)
Verna Blonski peacefully passed away on October 14, 2010 at the age of 85 after a brief stay at the Health Sciences Centre. Verna was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and attended Margaret Scott and Faraday schools.
In her early working years Verna worked as a seamstress at Jacob fashions and then sewed custom clothing for many members of her community. Later in her career she worked in the catering industry.
Our beloved sister, mother and grandmother was predeceased by her parents Paul and Stella Milinski, brothers Walter and Joey, daughter-in-law Christine and her husband of 50 years Bernard Blonski.
Verna will forever be remembered by her loving sister Elaine Turek (Walter), beloved children Brian and Wayne (Julia), treasured grandchildren Paul, Teresa, Kathryn, and Carolyn and her caring niece Chris (Jerry) and nephew Ron (Susan), along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Verna loved listening to all kinds of music, watching classic movies and documentaries, and being with her family.
Above all Verna was "Mom" to all who knew her. The Lord created an amazing spirit in Verna; he put on this earth a soul to which people were naturally drawn. Verna was very easy to talk to and always showed genuine interest and a desire to help everyone she met. It was not unusual for people, sometimes complete strangers, to share their life's troubles with her.
When her grandchildren came along Mom graduated to "Bachee" and her spirit soared. This led to many secret adventures that overanxious parents did not need to know about. Verna's greatest legacy was her devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Cantius' Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
Goodbye for now Mom; till we meet again.
