Obituary of Mary Bratko
Mary Louise Bratko
On August 22, 2009, at her home in Winnipeg Mary Lou Bratko, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 79 yrs.
Mary is survived by her sons Roy ( Joyce ) of Winnipeg, Wayne ( Leslie ) of Orleans, ON and son Daryl of Winnipeg and grandchildren Mallory and Derek.
She also leaves to mourn her passing sister Pat ( George ) Adams, brother Dan ( Jackie ), sister Florence ( Bill ) Stolar, brother Jim, and brother Mike ( Donna ). Mom also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and brother and sister in law Len and Angie Bratko. I'm sure they will all keep mom in their prayers.
She was predeceased by husband Micheal, parents Dougald and Clara MacKinnon, sister Kay, and brothers Hector, Reverend Doug MacKinnon, Alec, Brian, and Greg.
Mary was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia in 1930. As a young woman she enjoyed sports, especially skating and swimming. When she married Mike it was like a match made in heaven and they did everything together. She was a very strong woman who battled a number of illnesses including two bouts with cancer and won both times. In her latter years mom enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, movies, and watching her Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Sadly for those left behind God has called her home and she will be greatly missed but never forgotten. There is no more pain mom, now may you rest in peace.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of her homecare staff, especially her regulars over the years, Eva, Shelly, Laura, Elizabeth, Rachel and all the others. Also her nurse Rochelle and all the other homecare staff. Your help has been greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank Dr. Braun who has been mom's family Doctor for the past 35 years.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday August 31st at 1:00pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Winnipeg, MB. with Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, OSBM officiating.
If friends so desire donations may be made in Mary's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or WRHA Homecare.
