Obituary of Mary Campbell
MARY MARGARET CAMPBELL Nee MacDonald
Our beloved mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt, friend and neighbor, Mary Campbell, passed away peacefully at her residence at Holy Family Nursing Home on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008.
Born in Whitney Pier, Sydney, Nova Scotia, on February 8, 1904, Mary was the daughter of Margaret and Roderick MacDonald. She was the beloved mother and grandmother of daughter Marie and son-in-law Casey Rocznik and grandchildren, Karen, Michael, Andrea and her husband Peter Thompson. Mary also leaves to mourn her nieces, Helen MacNeil, Margie MacDonald and nephew Norman MacDonald, her cousins Betty, Kaye and Helen MacDougall as well as her husband's nieces and nephew and their families. Aunt Mary will be remembered by Helen MacNeil's family, who shared her love of the Boisdale cottage. Mary will also be remembered by Casey's family, especially his sisters Emily Gigian and Elsie Bell.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband Pius Thomas Campbell and infant son John Roderick Campbell, her brothers and their wives, her Campbell in-laws, Casey's mother and many friends and relatives.
Mary was a elementary school teacher who taught 9 years at Whitney Pier, NS and 9 years at St. Angela Merici School, Bronx, NY. Mary's life was enriched by her love of music. She played the piano for family gatherings, school assemblies, and church services. Mary volunteered at Donwood Manor while living at Donwood EPH where she made many friends. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish, Wpg.
The family would like to thank the Holy Family staff for their kindness, care and love.
Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, March 25 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Mass and interment will take place in Nova Scotia at St. Andrew's Parish, Boisdale.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Family Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave., Wpg. R2W 1T9, St. Andrew's Parish, Boisdale or a charity of one's choice.
