Obituary of Fred Cartwright
FRED (Corky) CARTWRIGHT
Suddenly on June 28, 2008, Fred Cartwright went to be with his wife Joan (his Ducky) to whom he had been married for 54 years.
Fred was born in Winnipeg on February 17, 1929 to Fred and Bertha Cartwright. He is survived by his children Robert (Sandra), Diane, Lynne Leah (John) and William (Lillian); grandchildren, Lori and Brian Mallows (father, Robert), Heather, Lisa, Julie and Steven Cartwright; brother Robert (Vicki), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife in August 2007, parents, sister Joan and precious son, Garry in 1962 at the age of four.
Dad was employed by Canada Post for 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was an avid reader and card player, but his favorite activity was golfing, each year attending a week-long get-together called the "Elmwood Sewer Tour". He was the Past President of the Stead Senior's club where he helped to organize the Senior's Olympics.
Respecting dad's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of his life at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, MB on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.
Many thanks to the emergency staff at the Selkirk General Hospital and Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 1101 - 191 Lombard Ave., Wpg, MB, R3B 0X1.
A Memorial Tree was planted for Fred
