MARY CWIK (Surowy) August 4, 1917 - April 26, 2008 Surrounded by her husband and children our loving wife, mother and Babi passed away peacefully. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Frank, and children Irene (Joe), Ed (Penny), Judy (Harry), Rick (Pat), Chris (Royal), Walter (Diane), and Stan (Jean). Also to mourn her passing are her grandchildren all of whom she loved and was so proud of Wanda (Calgary), Peter, Cynthia, Kevin, Angela, Tom, Edward, Paul, Vincent, Melissa, Ryan, Christopher, Jennifer (Montreal), Elliot, Samantha, Alyssa, Jason, Brendan, Nealon, Lyndon as well as 9 great grandchildren Crystal, Anthony, Giavanna, Rino, Joshua, Jarrett, Matthew, Miranda and Alyssa. She also leaves behind family in Europe, the U.S., as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Our mother was a very special woman. She possessed strength of character, a strong religious faith and never ending support of her family. Mom suffered many hardships in her life but always strived to do her best and make sure her family was taken care of. Mom was born in Poland and shared her memories with her children so we would know and understand our heritage. She grew up in a large family and lost her mother at a young age. She spoke fondly of her parents and siblings who have predeceased her, brothers Stanley(Czechoslovakia), Kazimierz(BC), sisters Rose(Wpg), Jadwiga(Western Ukraine), Bernice(Wpg.) She is survived by her baby brother Peter who resides in Mass, USA. Recently mom was able to visit with him and his family and had lovely memories of their time together. Mom was educated in Poland and worked to support her family. She suffered great loss during the war and when mom came to Canada with her family she had to start over again. Our mother had a strong work ethic. She not only worked but maintained a home with her husband Frank. She was an excellent cook who loved to have her family over so she could feed them. She made sure that her special recipes were shared with her family. It gave her such pleasure and joy to see her children happy. Our mother was an extremely gifted gardener. Her garden was always bountiful and beautiful. She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting. Mom belonged to Rosary Sodality. She always helped make perogies with the Catholic Women's League even though she was not a member. She taught her children so many valuable life lessons and supported us however she could in all of our endeavours. We could always go to her with our problems. She was a loving wife, mother and good friend. Recently mom and dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary as well as mom's 90th birthday. Mom held the memories of that day close to her heart as she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She spoke fondly of that day as it meant so much to her and dad. Mom had the opportunity to travel across Canada, the US and Europe visiting her family. She also enjoyed the cottage where she and dad would go to relax. Mom made everything special and will be missed by her husband, children, family and friends. We would like to thank family and friends who visited her while she was in the hospital. She enjoyed spending time with everyone. We would also like to thank the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, Unit 1 for their care and support. Prayers will be said on Thursday, May 1 at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Avenue with an Oblate Father as Celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. An on line book of condolences may be signed at www.cropo.com Mom…...We love you with all our hearts. Rest Peacefully.
