FEDERICO DE FILIPPIS It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Federico De Filippis on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. He will be deeply missed and his memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife of 47 years Maria, and daughters Teresa (Tom) and Lidia (Will); grandchildren Brandon, Mason, Mackenzie and Kieran. Federico is also survived by his brother Roberto (Liliana) of Italy, brothers-in-law Oscaro (Filomena) of Italy, Ettore (Angela) of Australia, Antonio and Aldo (Lucia) of Winnipeg, as well as his many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Giustiniano De Filippis and Teresa Santomero, brother-in-law Vittorio, sister-in-law Giuseppina, and sister-in-law Fedora. Federico was born in Casalbordino, Italy on October 4,1937, where he married his childhood sweetheart Maria in 1962. Upon fulfilling his army service to his country, he followed his new bride to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1963. He spent his career in construction, eventually retiring as a foreman. He worked hard throughout his life to ensure that his family would enjoy a better life with every advantage. His greatest source of pride and joy were his grandchildren who will miss their beloved Nonno. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of GH 6 who cared for him during his last days at the Health Sciences Centre. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 20th at 10:00 AM at Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Avenue with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano the celebrant. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. During the season of Lent, the church is not decorated with flowers. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association. We will love and miss you always Nonno.
