Obituary of Charlotte DUCKWORTH

CHARLOTTE HELEN DUCKWORTH Peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family on November 9, 2008, Charlotte Helen Duckworth passed away at the age of 82 years at the home of her daughter Tanis. She is survived by her children Heather (Michel Lafreniere), Tanis Finney, Cara-Lee Hayes (John), Robin Orteza (Fel), Trevor (Gina) and Shawna (Emad Sadr) and her grandchildren, Tyler, Colin and Kayla Finney; Travis, Evan, Lukas and Mikaela Hayes; Arielle and Celine Orteza; Kellen and Liam Duckworth; her sister Heather Dyegrov and sister in law Allison Forsythe and their families. She was predeceased by her mother Charlotte (Chat) Smith in 1956, her father James Smith in 1967 and her brother in infancy. Helen grew up in Winnipeg and spent her early career days working at Deer Lodge Hospital. She met and married Roy Duckworth in 1950 and spent the next years of her life raising her six children. Helen's real life revolved around her children and the times spent with them. In 1970 in order to help support her family, she returned to the workforce and worked at St. Boniface General Hospital until she retired at the age of 65. The family would like to thank Dr. Ralph Wong, his nurse Cathy and the Oncology Department at St. Boniface Hospital, the Palliative Home Care Program, for their care and a special thank you to nurse Ann Ediger for her care and compassion for our mother.
