Obituary of MARTHA KOBLANSKY (NEE DEIBERT)
MARTHA KOBLANSKY (NEE DEIBERT)
On Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 5:45 p.m., while we held her hands and stroked her hair, Mom passed away.
Left with fond memories of her are her daughters, Diane (Randy) and Shirley, her siblings, George (Millie), Mary, Ronnie (Bev), Betty, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was pre-deceased by her husband of 59 years, Bill, in March 2011, her parents Molly and Henry Deibert, and her brother Richard.
Mom was born on Aug. 22, 1924 in Morse, SK. At the age of 12, Mom and her family relocated to Winnipeg in the St. James area, where she attended Linwood School.
Even though Mom resided in St. James and Dad in East Kildonan, they managed to find each other, and married in 1951. Mom and Dad resided in Transcona for 10 years, then in Dugald MB for the next 30 years before returning to Wpg. in 1996.
Mom chose to make her family the main focus of her life, forgoing monetary gain to provide a full time loving home for Bill and her girls. She was constantly there making home cooked meals and providing unending support, spoiling us with undivided time and attention. She was always there waiting for us to return home from school and such happy moments provide us with precious moments. The sacrifices she made for her family will never be forgotten. In later years, Mom was employed part time at Dairy Queen, Woolco and The Bay. She continued to take on challenges, such as, learning to drive at the age of 41, and learning how to swim at age 59.
In 1982, Mom and Dad travelled to Mesa, Arizona, where they purchased a winter home, which they enjoyed for the next 25 years.
Throughout her life, Mom welcomed into her home, countless visitors, both family and friends.
In 2009, Mom became ill, which left her independence compromised. We all struggled along with her, to overcome many challenges. Her wish to remain in her home was accomplished, but not without the dedication and compassion of many caregivers. Sincere thanks to Meryna, Emily, Mila, Kristy, and especially Sona. Special thanks to Ann, for being there when this journey began.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 21at 1:00 pm at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St.
Donations in Mom's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St.
MOTHER
You can only have one mother,
loving , kind and true.
No other friend in all the world will
be so true to you.
For all her loving kindness,
she asked for nothing in return.
If all the world deserted us,
to our mother we could turn.
For those of us who have a mother,
treasure her with care ,
For you will never know her value,
till you see that she's not there.
To hear her voice, to see her smile,
to sit and talk with her a while.
to be together in the same old way,
would be our dearest wish today.
