Obituary of George Forsyth

George James Forsyth With sorrow, we announce the passing of George on October 11, 2009 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 86. Left to cherish his memory are daughters Carrie (Walter) Kolisnyk and Janice (Rick) Heetebrij; son Ross (Sandy) Forsyth; and grandchildren Tara, Michael, Shaina; Nicole, Natalie, Kristy; Lynn, Graham, and Clark; four great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Brenda Ellis of Neepawa, Manitoba. George was predeceased in January by his wife Nina (nee Ellis) of 58 years, brother Murray Church, and sister-in-law Doris Church. George was born on August 30, 1923 in Dauphin, Manitoba to Alexander and Myrtle Forsyth (nee Hutchinson). He spent most of his formative years in Winnipeg until he left to join the R.C.A.F. During WWII he was stationed as a medic in Teslin, Yukon. Dad and Mom were married on October 28, 1950 in Neepawa, Manitoba. They lived and worked throughout Manitoba, retiring to Vancouver Island in 1978. Being prairie people at heart, they returned to Winnipeg in 1991. Dad was an eternal optimist, a consummate story teller, and life long learner. Some of his greatest joys were socializing, food, dogs, fishing, humour, and family. Dad was a proud grandfather and great grandfather. The family would like to extend a thank you to all who helped and cared for Dad. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 16th at 2:00 PM at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Cropo Funeral Chapel 586-8044
