Obituary of Marianna GALEZOWSKI
MARIANNA GALEZOWSKI (NEE: SAMUS) It is with great sadness and very heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Marianna on August 17th, 2011 at the age of 92 years. Marianna, affectionately known as "Ciocia," and "Babcia Mary," was born in Polany, Kieleckie, Poland on February 21st, 1919. She later immigrated to Canada in 1966, where she worked at St. Joseph's Residence until her retirement in 1980. She was also devout member of the Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church and The Rosary Solidality. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband's daughter, Eleonara Kuczkowska and Eleonora's children Lech (Grazyna) Galezowski and Jadwiga Krupka, along with her grandchildren, Angelica (Kevin) Stahl, Matthew Galezowski, Daniel Krupka, and Andrea Krupka. Also left to cherish her memory are her brothers Jozef (Helena) Samus with their family and Franciszek Samus. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members in Canada and Poland. Marianna was predeceased by her husband, Filip Galezowski, her parents Magdalena and Adam Samus, brothers Edek, Jan, Szczepan, and Wladyslaw and her sister, Zofia Salnikowski and also Jaroslav Krupka. "Ciocia" enjoyed blueberry and mushroom picking, playing bingo, "Casino Nites" and her favorite card game "1000" (tysiac) with her family members and friends. She was known for her gracious hospitality, amazing sense of humour and deep and unconditional love for all of her family. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Grazyna and Lech Galezowski and Jadwiga Krupka for their countless visits, amazing care and compassion during "Ciocia's" stay at the hospital, the nursing staff on the 4th floor (GD4) at the Health Science Centre, the Home Care staff, nurses and residents at the Polish Manor and especially to Dr. R. Koczanski for his exceptional care and compassion. We would also like to thank Krystyna and Ryszard Mizeracki for the many wonderful summers they spent with Ciocia at their home in BelAir and to Ben (Sofie) Salnikowski for bringing her wild flower bouquets. We feel very blessed to have known such a beautiful person whom we cared for and who cared for us so very much. Viewing and prayers will be held on Saturday, August 20th, at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. WIECZNY ODPOCZYNEK RACZ JEJ DAC, PANIE.
