Obituary of ALFREDA MYSZKOWSKI
ALFREDA MYSZKOWSKI
It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Alfreda Myszkowski, 86, on
January 17, 2012, at St. Boniface General Hospital.
Alfreda is survived by her daughters Terry Woods (Allan), Kristine Perry of Edmonton,
Helena Station (Ted), and daughter-in-law Helen O'Neill. She also is survived by her
loving grandchildren Sheila, Shelley, Sherri, Gerry, Barbara, Brian, Barry, Sheryl, Diane,
Leslie, Corey, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by 2 infant sons, husband Walter, and her beloved son Eddy.
Baba was born on April 17,1925, in Kluczkow, Poland. She was separated from her
family due to war, and was relocated to Germany where she met and married her late
husband Walter. They had a family, and later immigrated to Canada in 1955 with their 4
children.
Upon settling in Winnipeg, Baba dedicated her work life to the New Nanking, where she
worked for 27 years until her retirement. She spoke fondly of the opportunities George
and his restaurant provided for her and her family over the decades. It was here she
acquired the skills to add wontons and egg rolls to her perogy and cabbage roll
specialities! Baba enjoyed countless hours in the kitchen pinching and rolling. Baba
frequented the bingo halls of the north end, often with a grandchild or two, and in later
years nurtured her love of slot machines. Baba was an avid gardener, cultivating her
vegetable garden annually.
The family would like to express appreciation to the St. Boniface Geriatric Day Hospital,
emergency and ward 5B staffs, and WRHA Home Care Services for their compassionate
care.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 9:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral
Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
