Obituary of Ernest GLOVER

ERNEST GLOVER Ernest Glover passed away peacefully, and finally rid of his pain early Saturday morning, August 6th, 2011 at Jocelyn House after a short battle with cancer. He was born on June 13, 1927 in Beeston, Nottingham, England and served with the British Army in Egypt and Palestine as a communications officer. As a young boy/man in England, he was affectionately known as "Son" (Ernest, son of Ernest). Ernie and Marian married in 1950 and immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1954. He retired from Reliance Plastics and spent 22 years enjoying life. During retirement they travelled many times to Hawaii, lived their summers at the cottage at Twin Beaches, fished and enjoyed many a beer with life-long friendships there. Ernie will always be remembered for his humour, generosity, love and devotion to his family and friends. He will also be remembered for being an avid soccer fan (Go MUFC!), handyman and making lawn ornaments and birdhouses for people. Ernie was predeceased by his parents Ernest Glover and Gladys Mary (Hopkinson). Surviving to mourn Ernie's death and cherish many fond memories are his loving wife Marian, son Brian (Cindy) Glover of Regina, daughter Linda (Gary) Smyrski of Winnipeg and their families. He leaves five grandchildren (His buddy Paul, Jacqueline (Marc), Julie (Scott), Amber and Breanna), three great grandchildren (Kyle, Keana and his newest little buddy Everett) and numerous friends and family, near and far. As per Ernie's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service is to be held. A private family gathering will take place in the future. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at Jocelyn House who took care of Dad during his final days, and the dedicated staff with the WRHA Palliative Care Program and Riverview during his initial palliative care. Memorial donations may be made to Jocelyn House, Riverview Health Center (3rd floor), or to a charity of one's choice. Please lift your glasses (even if it's warm beer) and remember only the good times!
