Obituary of Verne GRANT

VERNE HENRY GRANT With great sorrow Verne passed away on November 30, 2010 at the age of 59. He was born July 7, 1951, grew up in the North End and attended Jefferson Junior High. He had very fond memories of his school years there. Verne worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for 29 years. Verne is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy; his sons, Jason (Jackie), Marcus and Robert; his grandchildren, Rachael, Joseph, Kaitlin, Mercedes, Austin, Dillon, Katherine and great-granddaughter Marley. He is also survived by his mother Florette (Keith); brothers, Darrell (Iris), Clinton and Troy; sisters, Adrienne, Shelly, Wendy (Ron), Echo, Twilla (Wayne); mother-in-law Georgina, brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, father and granddaughter Maria. Verne's greatest passion was watching his grandson Joseph playing soccer. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a great person and friend that would do his best to help anyone that needed him. We would like to thank all the doctors and especially the nurses at Seven Oaks Hospital that helped Verne and his family through this difficult time. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Inkster. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Verne's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated.
