Obituary of WILLIAM (BILL) CHOMYN
WILLIAM (BILL) CHOMYN
On January 24, 2012, Bill passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Bill is survived by his wife Edna; son Ken (Sandy); grandchildren Mathew and Ashley; sister Luba (Walter) Zueff; sister-in-law Bernice Chomyn and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Katherine and Peter; brothers John (Jean), Michael and sister Dora (Mike).
Bill was born in Winnipeg on February 2, 1930. Bill married Edna in 1959 and celebrated 52 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed watching their son and their grandchildren play sports and also enjoyed travelling with friends.
Bill also spent 50 years owning and operating Dairy Queen restaurants in Winnipeg and was hands-on committed to his business. Bill was affectionately known as the "Dairy Queen Guy". Dairy Queen was also Bill’s hobby as he loved meeting and talking to his staff and customers, many of who became good friends.
Thank you to all of the hospital staff and wonderful personal friends and family who supported Bill and Edna during his illness.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
