Obituary of Walter HRYNKIW
WALTER HRYNKIW
On June 24, 2008 at the age of 84, Walter, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks General Hospital.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Nellie; daughters Pat (Glenn) and Janice (Brian); grandchildren Kristin (Rob), Meagen, Matthew and Josh; as well as brother Carl (Eleanor); sister-in-law Stella; brother-in-law Jerry (Lynn) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Julia and Peter, son Jim and brothers and sisters Jack, Joe, Frank, Ginger, Violet, Nellie, Stella, Jean, Stan and Eddie.
Walter was born and raised in Cooks Creek, MB. He was a Private in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1943 - 1944 in Toronto, ON. A chance meeting introduced him to his beautiful wife Nellie during a dance at the famous 'Crabby Steves'. They went on to marry and enjoy 54 wonderful years together.
Walter was a welder by trade but a man of many talents, who sacrificed his time and energy for his family and friends. He retired in 1987 from Metal-Tech Industries and in his golden years took up the game of golf.
Sadly, in 1994 Walter suffered a stroke, which left him disabled, but despite his diminished capacity, he continued to be a source of joy and happiness to his family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maples Personal Care Home for their care and support in Walter's final months, as well as the 4th floor nurses at Seven Oaks General Hospital in 2007 and during Walter's last few days.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, June 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 27 also at the Chapel. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Walter will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, but his memory will live on forever.
