Obituary of Nellie Kamecki
Nellie Kamecki
Just shy of her 98th birthday Nellie Kamecki passed away on Tuesday January 12, 2010 at the Lions Personal Care Center.
Nellie is survived by the children she lovingly raised, Rena, Victor and Denny Kisfalvi, nieces Vivian Gish, Ione Plasky and Patricia Carpenter and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Steven Kamecki, her parents, three brothers and sister. Nellie will also be greatly missed by her dear friends Rose Bilan and Olga Maughan.
"Auntie" as she was known to all that knew and loved her, was born on January 14, 1912, in Winnipeg. Nellie was a very loving, generous, kind and gentle woman. Auntie will always be remembered as being impeccably dressed and beautifully groomed. She had a great smile, a wonderful sense of humor and loved to be surrounded by her friends and "the kids" having a great time.
She was employed as a preschool teacher, as well as a cashier at Sherwin Williams Paints, CP Rail and The Royal Alexander hotel all of which she held fond memories of. Auntie loved travelling and did so extensively with her sister Anne. She always spoke of her many adventures.
Nellie played the piano beautifully and was the pianist and proud lifetime member of the Elks-Ladies of the Royal Purple.
Nellie was a beautiful cook and baker, making the best Lemon Meringue Pie ever! It must not go without mentioning Auntie's love of Bingo and the Casino. She loved to pass her time testing Lady Luck and she was always very lucky.
Auntie resided at the Lions Personal Care Center for the past five years and the family appreciates all the love and support that was afforded her by the many staff members during her residency there. She was well loved and well taken care of, by all who came to know her.
Nellie was also extremely grateful for the love and support shown to her over her lifetime by Georgina and Frank Cielen.
Thank you to Lisa Chapil, April Gobert, Teresa El-Giadaa and Katrin S. Atnikov for their support and love shown to Auntie in her final hours.
A funeral service for Nellie will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel on Saturday January 16, 2010 at 12:00 Noon. Interment to follow at Elmwood cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Denny Kisfalvi, Martin Cielen, Kent Cielen, Frank Atnikov, Warren Desmarais, and Eli Lenio.
Auntie, words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation we have for all that you sacrificed in your lifetime to care for us. We will miss you, but are comforted knowing that you are in the arms of all those that left before you. We love you….
