Obituary of Elizabeth Korosil
ELIZABETH KOROSIL (nee Czarkowski)
On June 6, 2009 at the age of 93, Elizabeth Korosil peacefully passed away at the Middlechurch Home.
Betty is survived by daughters Suzanne (Andy) Bacler and Cathy (Bob) Wood of Winnipeg; grandchildren John William (Hogan) Rex of Whitehorse, Andrea Bacler (Kerry Pihulak), Scott Wood, both of Winnipeg and Carly Rex of New York city and many nieces, nephews and their children. Betty was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Maureen (Hogan) Rex on May 2, 1993, as well as her long time friend and companion Christopher Grimshaw on March 29, 1988. Betty was the last surviving member of her family. Siblings Joseph, Frank, Anne, John and Mary predeceased her. Betty was born May 13, 1916 to Peter and Rosalie Czarkowski nee Appelman. She was raised and educated in Winnipeg, married James Korosil in Toronto in 1944, and returned to Winnipeg in 1948. Betty will always be remembered for her ability to overcome adversity. She raised her three daughters on her own. Laughing and socializing made it easy for her to make many life long friends. Lucky were those who got to sample her cooking, and baking. She had talent for sewing and was an avid reader. We thank all the staff on N2 at Middlechurch Home whose kindness and care added to the quality of our Mother's life during the last 5 years. Cremation has taken place. Prayers will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. The interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, 88 Hespeler Ave. following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's memory to the building fund at Middlechurch Home.
