Obituary of Ernest KRIEGER

ERNEST RUDOLPH KRIEGER 1932-2008 Ernest Rudolph Krieger, on December 29, 2008, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home at 76 years of age. He is survived by his daughter Lea-Ann Pohl and her companion Dennis Kozakevich, his son Stephen Krieger and three grandchildren; Stephanie and Austin Pohl, and Brianna Krieger, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Also left to mourn his passing is his brother Roy Krieger of Ontario, several nieces and nephews, in-laws, and many friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his wife Stella Krieger (Lukianchuk), and brothers; Willy-Max and Lloyd Krieger. Ernie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 26, 1932. He was raised in the city of Winnipeg by his parents Frieda and Ernest Krieger, along with his three brothers Roy, Lloyd and Willy-Max. After taking an early "leave" from his "studies", Ernie found long term employment with the City of Winnipeg Water and Waste Department. During that time he met and fell in love with his beautiful bride Stella, whom he was married to for 40 years until her untimely passing in 1998. During their life together, they adopted their two children, Stephen and Lea-Ann, to whom they were very attentive parents until their last days. After 41 years as a dedicated employee, Ernie retired from the City of Winnipeg in 1991, so he could turn his attention to his grandchildren, friends, and the many projects he always had on the go. During his life, he made many dear friends and had many acquaintances. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, or to volunteer his services in the form of a ride, a good conversation, a joke, or as a sounding board for those who needed it. He had a generous heart, and a bright spirit. He was always smiling and always looked at the glass as being half full. He kept himself busy with a full life of friends and family. Ernie never complained and was never a burden to anyone, only a blessing, as he maintained his independence until his last breath. There are no words that can express how much Dad will be missed. There is a void in our hearts and lives that will never be filled. We can only take comfort in the fact that he did not suffer, and he is back in moms' arms surrounded by friends and family who passed before him, and he is at peace. Always Loved, Forever Missed, Never Forgotten Rest in Peace Daddy Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel,1442 Main St., Winnipeg, MB.
