MARGARET PALEY
(Nee Salamandyk)
It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Margaret Paley at age 95 on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Lions Personal Care Centre.
Margaret is survived by her sister Olga Kasian; nieces Natalie Patrick, Louise Gagnon and Pat Walters; nephews Bill Fedirchuk, Vincent Salamandyk, Larry Sapach, Dennis Kasian and Donald Kasian; foster son Steve Orobko and numerous relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Nick in 1988; parents William and Maria Salamandyk; brothers John and Peter; sisters Anne Fedirchuk and Violet Sapach; nephews Walter Salamandyk and Adam Salamandyk.
Margaret was born in Senkiw, MB and lived in Carlowrie, MB until her marriage to Nick Paley in 1937. They farmed at Rosa, MB and were active in the church and community there. They retired to Winnipeg in 1968 residing at The Arms of the Cross for many years, where they made good friends. They were active members of the St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and joined the West End Seniors Centre. Margaret was a life member of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League.
Margaret enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and other crafts. She was kind and generous, always welcoming and entertaining visitors.
The family would like to express our appreciation for the excellent care given to Margaret at Lions Supportive Housing and also at Lions Personal Care Centre.
Prayers will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 590 Alverstone St. with Reverend Father Michael Krochak officiating. Interment at Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a charitable donation may be made to St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
