Obituary of GREGORY NYKORUK
GREGORY NYKORUK
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gregory Nykoruk on February 9, 2012 at the age of 90 years. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Elsie; sister Helen Lindahl; nephews Gregory Lindahl, Walter Nider (Keleigh); nieces Karen Zapp (Curtis Cross), Lynette Zapp (Gregory Hickaway), Diane Zapp; brothers-in-law Ted Zapp, Ernie Zapp (Belinda). Gregory was predeceased by his parents, Mary and William Nykoruk. Born and educated in Winnipeg, Greg served in the Canadian Armed Forces. He worked in the brewing industry for over forty years, being employed by Brewery Products, Carling Breweries and Associated Beer Distributors, where he retired as a supervisor.
Gregory was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed life to the fullest. Summers were spent in Grand Marais, playing tennis with his buddies, while winter was reserved for sunny Hawaii. An avid artist, Greg was a long time, active member of the Forum Art Institute. In keeping with Greg’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Forum Art Endowment Fund, c/o the Winnipeg Foundation, 1350 One Lombard Place, Winnipeg, R3B 0X3.
Special thanks to the staff of HSC for their dedicated and compassionate care.
