Obituary of Marion LEGGAT
MARION ELIZABETH LEGGAT (nee Morris) Following a short illness, Mom died at the Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, November 25, 2010. Mom was born in Alexander, MB on July 27, 1922. She lived in Alexander, MB for a few months, then moved to Balcarres, SK. She moved to Foxwarren, MB when she was three. Mom attended Foxwarren Consolidated School, and her father operated a grocery business in town. In 1940, she enrolled in university in Winnipeg. Her first full-time job was with Trans Canada Airlines in Winnipeg, then she moved to MacGregor to teach school. Mom returned to take her teacher training at the University of Manitoba. Following her graduation in 1943, she taught in Selkirk, and later in Winnipeg. Mom taught school for a number of years, then devoted her time to raising her children. She was a member of the United Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mom is survived by her son Bill, wife Ardith and grandsons Rob (Jennifer) and great-granddaughter Jessie and Scott (Terra) and grandchildren Rylan and Berkley; daughter Carolyn Schram, husband Fraser and grandchildren Michelle, Mark and Paul; son John, wife Karen and grandchildren Cole and Grace. She will be fondly remembered by brothers-in-law Roy (Joyce) and Frank (Frances) and by her niece Margaret and husband Dale Gies. Mom was predeceased by her son Jim in November 1994 and her husband Lorne in November 2002. The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care mom received on Ward GH3 at the Health Sciences Centre. The family would appreciate donations in Mom's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Winnipeg, MB with Rev. Msgr. Maurice Comeault, P.H. officiating. Mom will be laid to rest next to her son Jim in Foxwarren, MB.
